KND might as well be done

unfortunattly the cartoonetwork page on wikipedia says its going to stop makeing new episodes PERMENATLY! on december 10th... man am i UPSET! but we may as well put in on the article

any agreements? Godzillastar 04:24, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

i agree ill be super pissed, i dont even remember watching any episodes last year and they say 2002-2008 yea right. im telling you cartoon network is going downhill....Fast. if they keep booting all their great cartoons(teen titans, juniper lee, hihi puffy ami yumi, grim adventures, courage the cowardly dog, Ed ed and eddy, etc) noone will watch the channel. id rather watch codename kids next door than chowder or out of jimmys head or george of the jungle, those definitley need to get booted. the cartoons from the 90's would get more views than the new shit they aim at us now.

seriously only a few decent cartoons are left. fosters home, and some other shows but basically reruns. anyways cartoon networks future is looking like shit. i hate the new layout design "Fall is something that grownups invented" wtf? what happend to the 3d world were all the cartoons interacted with one another bring that back. seriously am i the only long time cartoon network watcher who feels this way. >:0 i try to give the new shows a chance but i just cant, seeing how crappy they are and try to be funny, when their not. i even want the original fridays back with tommy and zinga or tara. FUCK FRIED DYNAMITE. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lizainfini (talkcontribs) 14:55, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Dude I totally agree with what your sayin. I mean THE MINUTE Cartoon Network relaunched itself, the first thing I said was, Oh shit, somthin bad just happened. Also, you are not alone I also feel that. Even if Cartoon Network TRIED to make an atempt @ goin back to normal, they r sunk. I may think dat Cartoon Network was trashed the minute it relaunched, but if you dig deeper, youll find out that Cartoon Network REALLY went overboard when Jim Samples (old head of CN untill he was fired because of Adult Swim bomb threat) was fired!Crips r us (talk) 01:17, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

I agree too. I just wanna know what is going through these peoples' heads with all these "improvements" they're doing! Cartoon Network was like the best channel to watch classic cartoons. Ones that were ACTUALLY FUNNY. Now ever since they got rid of shows like Cow & Chicken, Dexter's Laboratory, Powerpuff Girls, Tom & Jerry, etc., it's just been BLAH. And why DID they get rid of the thing they did every Friday? A few years ago, they would have cartoon characters like Muriel from Courage the Cowardly Dog or Johnny Bravo hosting Fridays. That was the best. I didn't mind that they changed it and had real people hosting Fridays, that was fine. I actually liked it a lot. But now they've completely gotten rid of it! This really sucks... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.225.128.144 (talk) 03:12, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

I am with you all the way! Yep, Cartoon Network is fading in decency fast! They have gotten rid of almost all their best cartoons!(Billy and Mandy, Puffy AmiYumi, Foster's Home, Camp Lazlo, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Powerpuff Girls, My Gym Partner's a Monkey, Ed, Edd n Eddy) Now there's rubbish like Chowdah, Flapjack, Star Wars:The Clone Wars, Secret Saturdays, Adventure Time and Generator Rex!(Cartoon Network must get rid of them) The cartoons from the 1990s would get more views than the new rubbish that's on now! Well, they got rid of some rubbish like Class of Three Thousand, Out of Jimmy's Head and Choppy Chickens. But Cartoon network sucks nowadays with such crappy cartoons! This is so true its 2010 and the only good shows that are out are the total drama series and adventure time. i miss this show! im glad they let us watch the reruns at 4 to 5 pm but still how could they throw away a good show like that! carttonnetwork really sucks now! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.4.207.239 (talk) 10:03, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Sector V.png

Image:Sector V.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Show cancellations

I read an article (print) some time ago (late/mid 2007) which commented that some of the shows which were being canceled. The article commented some recieved cancelation were due not only to the fact had ran their course but that some shows were being discontinued due to their content not truly being children friendly. These reasons include violence, semi-mature theme, inappropriate humor. It went on to say these were fine after hours but didnt feel they were appropriate during the primetime/daytime hours. I remember reading the article ans saying WTF. This was not the main focus of the article, which was about contemporary animation programming. I dont remember if the person commenting was a rep for CN or just someone with a bug up their @$$.

I'm looking through my magazine stacks to see if i can find it.

If this is the case, i doubt Chowder will do much for assisting the fight against childhood obesity.

I'll miss KND. When I first saw the previews to it years ago, my first thoughts were "oh great this is going to suck" by second episode I was an avid fan. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ga1lyons (talkcontribs) 22:07, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Not children friendly Bullshit, are you serious if that was the case they would have gotten rid of the show years ago. i was 13 when KND came out and i thought it was cool. look at Tom and Jerry anyways ratings count right if lots of people are still watching these good cartoons they should keep them, theres no such thing as to many seasons. atleast nowadays. now im seeing reruns but i didnt see any episodes last year, what gives? did they get lazy. they havent even had 100 eps but they wanna cancel that shit pisses me off. lemme tell ya i have a 7 year old brother that i watch the channel with and mind you i do not like anything I REPEAT ANYTHING that the channel has to offer. almost everything new that came from september 2007 SUCKS and ive seen commercials of future shows MY GUESS IS THAT THEY WILL FAIL AS WELL. Rest in peace Cartoon Network 1992-2006.

That show was awesome. I just can't believe that Cartoon Network is cancelling Kids Next Door. Even though there won't be any more new episodes doesn't mean that everyone's gonna hate the reruns and complaining for new episodes. But that's stretching it. NOT CHILDREN FRIENDLY?! That's really retarded. It's not like kids are randomly taking hammers and screwdrivers and building lasers and whatever is in KND.

And Chowder can't possibly replace Kids Next Door. No way. Aint believing it.

Normally, I'd put up the WP:NOT#FORUM here, but I must admit, I and a lot of the critics agree with you all. With the airing of Out of Jimmy's Head, Cartoon Network is betraying its own principles. Of course, Cartoon Network first really went wrong when it pulled the Looney Tunes (and, in case we have any H-B admirers here) and the Hanna-Barbara cartoons off the air; I have no doubt that that raised some ire. Just be thankful we have the classics on DVD now. — Cinemaniac (talkcontribs) 02:59, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Massive Overhaul Needed

I've just tagged the article for multiple issues, including original research, trivia, lack of referencing, tone, etc.. Anyone interested in giving this article the cleanup it deserves can contact me. — Cinemaniac (talkcontribs) 00:09, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Yeah it's true. It does need somethings done to it like certain things need to be referenced. Alot of unregistered users like to mess with this page and it gets reverted back everyday. It needs to be protected to be honest.Mcelite (talk) 00:11, 2 February 2008 (UTC)mcelite
In any case, I'm moving the tag to the bottom of the page, instead of the top, that way a user will not miss out on any useful information the article has just because they suspected the article because of a {{multiple issues}} tag. Cinemaniac (talkcontribscritique) 16:49, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
I don't think that's a valid reason to move it to the bottom of the page. If the tag is there then the article has issues that have to be resolved for it to be removed. For that reason it has to stay at the top, so people know of them. If the tag is at the bottom and a person sees it there, they'll think they've wasted their time reading an article that may be innacurate. By staying where it did, it fulfills its original purpose of a warning. —T-borg (T | C) 20:52, 15 February 2008 (UTC)
Oops! My mistake, then. I'll move it back. Cinemaniac (talkcontribscritique) 22:37, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

With the Sector V section it has many mistakes, it says Numbuh 1 is mexican, numbuh 2 is italien [this is one i dont if true or not], Numbuh 4 dumped Numbuh 3 then married Penny Dougals.....STILL WHILST TEN, then numbuh 5 didnt marry numbuh 2 whilst 10.....when was any of this announced.82.44.97.100 (talk) 13:01, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Ankle Biters

I noticed that "ankle biters" redirects to this page, but no indication is given as to why. Neither term appears anywhere in the article that would give any indication of why either. 216.36.186.2 (talk) 12:46, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

That page linking you to this page is weird but I know that one of the episodes deals with the KND from sector V liberating new-borns from the hospital, calling themselves "Ankle Biters", because #1 believes that the adults are trying to brainwash kids from the moment they are born. The plot twists when Sector V finds out that in fact the new-borns are planning to take out the adults and the KND. The leader of the new-borns announces to his group of babies "Ankle Biters ATTACK!". Leading us to believe that the new-born group is called "The Ankle Biters". 20:25, 18 MAY 2008

What the heck...?!

Somebody wrote in the Numbuh 3 section: "Loosely translated from Japanese, Sanban means "asian @$#% licker". It is implied throughout the series that she has a secret swedish vibrating #$%@*"

... I mean, that's not true, yeah? O_o

Yup, not true. -- JSH-alive talkcontmail 10:55, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Codename: Kids Next Door did not have two pilots

People seem to think that just because the same person(s) behind KND was also behind Kenny and the Chimp, it somehow makes them both the same show. They are not the same show. I know that the KND were originally planned to be on Kenny and the Chimp but that never happened. They never appeared on the show and there were no episodes or scripts made with them in the show. It was an idea and that's it. Kenny and the Chimp as it is now, has nothing to do with Codename: Kids Next Door. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SirFakeName (talkcontribs) 20:05, 27 July 2013 (UTC)

Character ethnicities

Are the ethnicities of the characters something that is actually discussed in the series, or are we making guesses based on appearance, name, and other characteristics? With regard to the recent changes to Numbuh 5, who went from Afro-French to African American and French, where is this information coming from? The edit summary from Mcelite suggests that the information is deduced, rather than directly from the series. How do we know that her father wasn't a Haitian-American, for example? And more importantly, why are we even getting into this for cartoon characters, who are typically depicted in any number of ways? Do we care what type of cat and mouse Tom & Jerry are? I'm inclined to cut all ethnic commentary as trivial and improperly sourced. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:24, 16 April 2014 (UTC)

Okay, have you never seen the episode when they introduce Abigal's mother? She is French, not Afro-French and her father is a spoof of Bill Cosby. My apologies if the edit seemed biased but it is what it. Her mother is French and even has a French accent.Mcelite (talk) 22:12, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
Hi Mcelite I haven't seen any episodes. I'm trying to understand the relevance of including this information in the article, as well as the accuracy of the claim. Your edit doesn't seem biased, I'm just having trouble understanding, since it appears you are: 1) personally interpreting that her father is a spoof of Bill Cosby, and 2) deciding he therefore must be African-American because real-life human being Bill Cosby's ethnicity is African-American. That sounds like original research to me. Cartoon characters can be depicted with brown skin, or Asian features, but that doesn't mean they have an actual defined ethnicity unless it's clearly a noteworthy aspect of the show. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 23:31, 16 April 2014 (UTC)
Hi Mcelite it's been a couple of weeks since I wrote the above. Did you have any more thoughts about this? My plan is to cut the ethnic breakdowns as unencyclopedic and apparently speculative. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:49, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
Hi Cyphoidbomb my apologies this got busy with school. I guess the relevance of what some works from the other editors was to just show that the kids are a diverse group. I guess also in relation to the characters themselves it gives a back story. That's about the only thing relevant I can think of the top of my head right now.Mcelite (talk) 23:00, 5 May 2014 (UTC)

Ned's Newt

Is there a reason why this show looks A LOT like Ned's Newt aired a few years before (It almost seems that Numbuh 1 appears in both shows)? This isn't the best place to ask this, but if there is a connection between the two productions the article needs a mention about it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.220.233.207 (talk) 02:04, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

You could compare the art department credits, for example the character designers, [1][2] to see if there is any intersection. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:28, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

Possible sequel

A well-meaning editor from Sao Paolo added content in these edits. I am removing the content for the following reasons: 1) Wikipedia is not a rumor mill, gossip site, or a breaking news site. It's not our duty to keep everyone up on all the hints and whispers in the world. 2) The user had to rely a lot on personal interpretation for the substance of the content. Stuff like "it is possibly going to be about the feud between the Galactic Kids Next Door and the regular KND Organization". I am not taking a position on whether or not there will be another incarnation of this property, but it is premature to add it to an encyclopedia. When proper news sources report on it, and particularly when we know what "it" is exactly, then it seems reasonable to include. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:30, 21 March 2015 (UTC)

Another preview video, shared by the show's creator on Twitter and Tumblr. There's still a lot of ambiguity, but it does state explicitly at the end of the video that there are currently no plans for a G:KND series. However, the dialogue also indicates that this is meant as part of a campaign of some sort to revive the series, though it doesn't explain how. The most I think could be done with what we currently have is "On March 31, 2015, a video was shared by Warburton teasing a possible sequel series.[1]" Anything beyond that would be straying into speculation. I suggest holding off until the exact plan is fully revealed or until there's some news coverage to cite. -- 136.181.195.25 (talk) 19:15, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I don't think you and I have significantly different takes on this. I don't think this content is worth including for a number of reasons. Wikpedia isn't a rumor site or a breaking news source. I can't count the number of times I've seen flimsy "Potential revival" sections based on something like an interview where Actor A is asked, "Would you be up for a Perfect Strangers reboot" and the actor answers "Sure!" because what is he supposed to answer? Everything is "potential" so long as anyone says "maybe" or "Gee, I'd sure like to", or "Boy, that'd be swell!" Unless someone has signed a deal in ink, and preferably unless production has begun, I don't see the value of this content other than as fan titillation, which is not what an encyclopedia should be used for. And let's not forget that importance is determined by what reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject have to say, not what primary sources have to say. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:06, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
There is a petition to bring a sequel. According to the website, the creator is actually trying to make it happen. So I think we should really publish this.

It's not our job to advertise fan petitions. If multiple news services pick this up and have significant commentary, then perhaps. Please see my new comment above. Also, see this, which introduces a fan campaign to bring back the series. That was promptly reverted. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:27, 5 April 2015 (UTC)
Can we at least say that the creator is trying to bring back the show? We at least have sources for that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darkninja505 (talkcontribs) 03:12, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
I still don't understand the academic value. And the only sources we have are WP:PRIMARY ones. We're not a newspaper or a press release service. You can always run this stuff past WikiProject Television if you disagree or want more input. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:08, 6 April 2015 (UTC)
Warburton has begun elaborating on what exactly G:KND is. Once all the parts are released, maybe we can figure out how to approach this. -- 136.181.195.25 (talk) 14:04, 1 June 2015 (UTC)
The final part just went up. Long story short, nothing's happening in terms of a new series. The most we could add is "In 2015, Warburton created a viral marketing campaign to generate support for a potential continuation, Galactic Kids Next Door. However, Cartoon Network has no plans to revive the series." -- 136.181.195.25 (talk) 14:37, 19 June 2015 (UTC)

Should there be a character list for Codename: Kids Next Door?

Hey, guys. I just wanted to point out that there needs to be a new article entitled "List of Codename: Kids Next Door characters" because there no longer is a character section on this article. Perhaps we should include every single character with their own detailed descriptions and appearance history. What do you think? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MatthewRC (talkcontribs) 23:28, 9 August 2016 (UTC)

MatthewRC, we certainly don't need a unique article on it. We only create unique articles for character lists when there is a reason to do so, like if we have a character list that's well sourced and long and it's taking up too much space in the article. The list of characters was removed in April by Maplestrip although I'm not sure why, as he did not provide an explanation. That said, it was problematic for being laden with a lot of in-universe "cruft" including a lot of personal interpretation. I have restored a bare-bones version of the list here. The relevant guideline for this section is WP:TVCAST. Hope that helps. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 23:54, 9 August 2016 (UTC)
Yes, I removed the list at the time for being no more than a large amount of unsourced, original research / cruft. The names of the five main characters themselves were already listed in the overview section and the rest all seemed rather undue. Of course, if you can source it, then it's probably good content. Sorry for the lack of an edit summary for something that major - that wasn't smart of me.. ~Mable (chat) 00:49, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

Ankle Biters?

Noticed Ankle Biters redirect to this article (Codename: Kids Next Door), but article doesn't mention "Ankle Biters". I haven't seen the show so hoping someone more familiar with the show will add "Ankle Biters" to the article (if Ankle Biters are part of the show). Partial chronology of Ankle Biters redirects: "Codename: Kids Next Door (minor villains)", "List of minor antagonists in Codename: Kids Next Door]", "List of families in Codename: Kids Next Door", etc. -EarthFurst (talk) 23:33, 13 December 2018 (UTC)
