Disambiguation page needed

Collusion also refers to a situation where a leader or respected person abuses a person in the group, and the members of the group side with the accused. It can be passive collusion as in not believing the victim or failing to get involved. Or it can be active collusion where there are people directly siding with the alleged abuser. An example of active collusion would be if someone in the group paid the legal fees of the alleged abuser.

NOTE: The above needs clairification. "the accused" is the "alleged abusor.

This transition is less then clear. This is important work because is builds a vocabulary for systems in our culture, which seems to be what is failing us now.

Collusion in poker

This is regarded as most heinous form of cheating in poker, perhaps some mention of this (or example) is warranted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tmursch (talkcontribs) 04:00, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Examples

Current examples include GE in 1960s, Baseball salaries, School food, Livestock feed additives, and Poker.

The WP Article Climate_gate may become an example of collusion. Millions, billions, and trillions in funding could be spent. Suppression of information was/is involved. Watch how it turns out in deciding.

What are other examples? Charles Edwin Shipp (talk) 01:18, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Chiseling

Hey guys I added that the term "chiseling" is used to refer to cheating in collusions/cartels. Do you think we need more explanation of "chiseling" in cartels and collusions? I came across numerous instances of chiseling being used in this context (google search chiseling economy cartel OR collusion) but nothing defining what chiseling is. Defense of including Bowl Championship Series?

The BCS is linked under the "See Also" section, yet there is no discussion of collusion on the BCS page. Is this a legitimate example? Phoenix00017 (talk) 19:45, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

NBA free agent example

One of the examples cited in the article is:

The sharing of potential contract terms by NBA free agents in an effort to help a targeted franchise circumvent the salary cap
  1. Is this a correct usage of the term?
  2. Do examples need citations?

Wrong definition?

In Industrial Economics collusion occurs between two parties when they act in mutual interest but without talking to each other. I know that you know, that I know that you know... So if both are rational they both second guess each other. The key is communication without words. This is particularly interesting becuase it is very difficult to prove in antitrust cases (anti monopoly) and if I recall correctly, Nash's game theory has been used to show that even though two companies had no written or verbal pact, they were acting together to gain monopolistic advantage. Hopefully I can find the time to search for references and find out where I am wrong... 80.34.137.194 (talk) 10:37, 25 August 2011 (UTC)
