In the third paragraph that begins with "The colonial period" - second sentence, there needs to be a space between IN and COLONIAL as well as in the fifth sentence between INEQUALITY and DURING. Also, what is the time frame when you state "first half of the colonial period." Could you maybe provide dates. It would be helpful in trying to understand when it took place. Other than that, good read. Information is super detailed and interesting. The comparative analysis allows for a more contextualized understanding because it provides various comparisons between different African countries in regards to gender inequality. I really enjoyed the pre-colonial and post-colonial analysis as well. Lastly, the listing of various women in order to delineate their position politically, economically, and/or socially, strengthens argument because it shows that women in African countries held high status and were regarded as such within their respective societies. Overall, good read and nicely formatted.

I commend you for picking this topic as it is very broad and obviously difficult to capture all of the experiences of gender inequality throughout Africa but also a very important topic to bring to light.

The first section regarding the colonial roots of Africa’s gender inequality should be contextualized first rather than beginning with women being highly respected. If the third paragraph was swapped as the intro paragraph, followed by the second paragraph and then the first paragraph as the conclusion this would provide more clarity for the reader.

The second section, second paragraph regarding the representation of women’s agency should avoid question marks as our Wikipedia entries are informative encyclopedia-like, impartial entries.

I would love to see you include the experiences of women not only in South Africa but throughout all regions of Africa. I am aware this is our first draft and know you most likely are planning on including more countries later on.
