Edits to the Colt Group page

I am a Colt employee and have been asked to update this page to reflect the new company structure. I wish to change a few facts and add additional paragraphs to better reflect what we do. Please advise on the process. I did edit manually but the edits have been removed. Thank you. Dave — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ddaly11 (talkcontribs) 11:21, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Suggested Changes to the Colt Group Wiki page[edit]

Hi,

I work in communications for Colt Technology Services. There have, over the past few months been a number of changes to our company and I thought now could be a good time to update the Colt entry. I wondered if the community would value basic structural information about these changes and our activities across Europe. Would it be useful to incorporate these changes onto this page?

I look forward to your thoughts on this. Thanks.

if the present structure is incorrect it should be corrected but it should remain concise and not become a directory or be capable of being construed as an advert for the company. Dormskirk (talk) 20:36, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

Thanks very much for your guidance. I am drafting some ideas and reviewing the community guidelines. Where I have got to so far in my thinking is that we can add to the existing structure by updating the current figures and numbers and by providing functional and operational background information about the recent restructure. I’d welcome any other thoughts?

Thanks

I suggest you keep it concise - the present length is about right - it just needs updating. Dormskirk (talk) 23:08, 13 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Thanks, I'll keep to the format and keep it concise. Think I'll post some updates tomorrow or so - welcome any feedback! François

Hi, Finally gave it a go - patience's always stronger on fridays! Hope you'll appreciate the effort, I realise did increase the total length a bit, although tried to stick to facts-only. Any section I've added are also displayed on most of other industry players' Wiki community pages. As it was a major first, I'd welcome any feedback! Thanks François

I have tidied it up a bit: should be OK now. Dormskirk (talk) 20:03, 14 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

FDessertaux (talk) - 20 October - Hi there it's Francois! My colleague Dave, who just did a couple of changes on 14 October, just asked me to take back ownership of these necessary updates as I initially had done the 2011 ones back in the days. Thing is most of Dave's changes were deleted thereafter. And the page is now 50% of what it used to be! He showed me the content and as per your guidance, those are minor edits only, aimed at reflecting 2 things: 1/ accuracy of figures (of the Colt infrastructure now spanning a bit more geographies) and 2/ accuracy of the way the business is organised (which just shifted to four lines of business, clarifying for any reader what we sell: Network Services, Data Centre Services, Voice Services, IT Services; we just have one line of description for each of these). Please could you let me know if I can proceed with these factual minor changes? Or shall I paste them on this talk tab first? Thanks, Francois d'Essertaux — Preceding undated comment added 16:18, 20 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi Francois - If it's just a few extra words on the geographies and two or three words on each of the lines of business that's fine. But remember the information must be entirely independently sourced (i.e. it must not come from the company per WP:SOURCE) and it must not look like an advert for the products (per WP:ADVERT). Best wishes.Dormskirk (talk) 20:15, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

FDessertaux (talk) - 21 October - Hi Dormskirk thanks for the swift reply! Understood - I'll rework the copy to fit your guidance here and update this soon, let me know if the end result is suitable. Thanks! — Preceding undated comment added 08:34, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

FDessertaux (talk) - 27 October - Hi there I've just had a go at it! I've looked for proper descriptions of what these 4 lines of business are about and all external sources - financial articles mainly - send me to one document Colt put out publicly mid-year. I've therefore inserted short relevant quotes that look explanatory rather than "selling points" (plus a recent press article regarding the IT services rating in an industry analyst thing). It ends up as a bit more than "2 or 3 words" you were requesting, didn't succeed to do less if I am to clarify what Colt sells here. Let me know if this is suitable or if I have to quote other sources than these two? Thanks! — Preceding undated comment added 13:13, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

This looks fine to me. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 19:30, 27 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
