Origin of the name[edit]

The main article could be improved by explaining how the Commodore 4040 got its name. Did the "40" represent the width of the intersector gap?

Or, since it was a dual disk drive, the same intersector gap might have been used on both diskettes.

Or did the "40" represent the width of the synch mark, 5 bytes having 40 bits or so? 216.99.201.230 (talk) 06:20, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
