PeopleAggregator[edit]

You should probably update the listing for them. According to their own site, they are not free. I am guessing that hey are also not open source as there is no source code available. It's strictly SAAS - software as a service. You can reference their home page here - http://www.broadbandmechanics.com/ - and if you look under Services -> SaaS Turn Key Services it requires a TWO YEAR commitment. I don't know about pricing as you have to inquire to find out. General Purpose CMS aten`t "social network software"[edit]

Drupal, Impress CMS, Joomla! and XOOPS are CMS, not social network software. It`s possible to build social networks in those plataforms with addons, but as they are presented It`s like the plain installation is a social network. Cleanup[edit]

ODS neutrality[edit]

the column on ODS includes significant superfluous language extolling its virtues, while the others leave a simple "yes" or "no", making them seem inerior.

This really needs to be updated. For example, Elgg has come a long way, and some features listed as not included are included. I might just update at least that column. This page is amazingly useful to organisations looking to add social networking functionality to their website. For example, it would have been useful to the University of Sussex's SPLASH project which looked to compare potential social networking software. Neutral Point of View[edit]

This is a fairly short list. As noted in the "basis?" topic above, it's not clear why these particular applications were chosen. Also, some list features as available by way of plugins, modules, or other third party modifications. Using that logic, I imagine they're all capable of everything. Proposal: add Crabgrass to list of social network engines[edit]

see the about Crabgrass page for a list of features. It has moved from alpha to beta.

Known current installations:

Riseup Collective and
Share UNICEF, which has at least one publicly visible group: UNICEF Uganda.

Jive, and a checklist of currently rated products[edit]

I am surprised by the absence of Jive Software, which is now considered by many reviewers as one of the leading platforms. Because of its absence, I think this page is rather dated, not very useful, and potentially fails the NPOV test.

FYI, the following ratings are all from 2010, and Jive appears in all of them:

Kentico and DotNetNuke?[edit]

The current list seems to be heavily biased towards PHP based CMS engines. There are two critical sites that you guys may want to consider adding that are .NET based:

Both of these have extensive user bases and hundreds of thousands of global implementations. Seems like they should definitely be in this list to me. I'm not attached to any specific technology, but the list as it is now without these 2 is incomplete. My .02 cents.

ODS/Virtuoso Link Rot[edit]

The citation for ODS/Virtuoso's license was marked as a dead URL today (30 Oct 2011) as I went through and cleaned up source citations. Two issues:

The only archived page I could find was Google's cache of the page, which is a less-than-ideal archive.
The archive of the page was only about a week old, so the original might be live, but the organization might be having server or domain issues today.

Mobile Support[edit]
