So this article has suffered from bad quality material for years, relying solely on WP:OR. Most of the entities listed has little or nothing to do with conservatism. Now the problem is that there is difference between a conservative party and that people in politics might have a conservative mindset (just like 'liberal' was multiple meanings). Take Shiv Sena, a not-at-all conservative party. The refs "Like Mann Ki Baat and Chai Pe Charcha, Shiv Sena starts branding its public interactions" and "No chance for young blood? Shiv Sena has bet on ageing war horses, say analysts" does not seem to be using 'conservative' as in 'conservatism'. Soman (talk) 00:56, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Conservatism is not necessarily an ideology that supports the status quo. Conservatism is also associated with advocacy or hierarchy of economic and social inequality. A similar case to India is Japan's conservatism, in which J-liberals advocate a lot of constitutional and institutional traditions, and J-conservatives want to make nationalistic changes. I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. What I'm trying to say is that 'conservative' has multiple meanings, see https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/conservative. Saying that a politician is 'conservative' doesn't necessarily mean he/she is a follower of conservatism it might just be indication that he/she is cautious or hesitant in some respect. For this reason, we need a higher bar for inclusion in this article. But the main problem is that we have nothing in this article that talks about Conservatism in India, just a random WP:OR listing. --Soman (talk) 01:15, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

("Thus, the BJP can be both nationalist and conservative with regard to some aspects, and nationalist against conservatism in other regards – but at the end of the day, it is nationalism that matters more. The BJP’s ship is not entering the waters of conservatism more than it did before, nor is it steering away from them. It keeps navigating its zig-zagging course.") This is the same with the Japanese LDPJ. Young people in Japan think the LDPJ is younger, more open, and more reformative. Rather, CDPJ advocates old stamp culture and emphasizes traditional Japanese culture. However, conservatism is also associated with inequality, as shown in the Conservatism#Hierarchy article.
