Article title change?[edit]

The series seems to be officially titled Constantine: City of Demons as referenced here, here, and here. Rename the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dhalh (talkcontribs)

Incorrect Info[edit]

This series is NOT part of the Arrowverse, nor is it connected to the live-action Constantine TV series. Chas is British, like he is in the comics. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.184.76.28 (talk) 19:23, 25 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article's sources disagree with you. -- AlexTW 01:42, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, all of the articles currently cited that mention Arrowverse are from well before it was released, and reading them closely, none of them say it's definitely set in the Arrowverse (IGN in Jan '17 quotes Pedowitz saying it's "somewhat connected" to Arrowverse; Collider in Oct '17 says it "could further incorporate him into that world"; Collider in Jan '18 quotes Giradi saying that it's "yet to be determined" whether it's Arrowverse or a separate animated universe). Since it's been released, the creators have said they weren't specifically writing it to be set in the Arrowverse, and there have been lots of articles discussing how it seems as if it isn't. Unless we can get a good, recent source on this, I don't think it passes WP:V. ‑‑YodinT 19:50, 26 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
We have a tweet from the lead writer that says it is not yet part of the Arrowverse in any official capacity, or that it continues the 2014 series. Both statements in the opening summary are false by official source. Babspage (talk) 21:31, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I just wanted to say this whole debate reminds me of when people were always arguing over whether or not Hellblazer is set in the mainstream DCU. JOEBRO64 23:29, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article's sources don't disagree with me at all, actually. Unless Chas has somehow changed his nationality, it's separate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.184.76.28 (talk) 15:50, 6 August 2018‎ (UTC)[reply]

That seems to be textbook WP:OR. -- AlexTW 00:21, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Arrowverse (again...)[edit]

Just a heads up that there's a discussion at Talk:Arrowverse, giving a couple of sources that mention it alongside the other animated series as being in the Arrowverse. As the consensus there is being used to add stuff here, it's worth having a say! ‑‑YodinT 10:35, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Review and where's this is connected to[edit]

Here's a review for the full content (not just the first 5 released on CW Seed), and also further confirmation this is more a successor to the JLD animated film than the live-action NBC series or the Arrowverse. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:04, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Episodes/format[edit]

Most of the article reads as if this were a series of 5 short episodes. This made sense when the show was going to be 12 short episodes, of which we had the first 5. But that's not what it ended up being. When the story was finished, CW Seed replaced the first 5 episodes with a 29-minute "City of Demons: Part One", and then added a 39-minute "City of Demons: Part Two". The site calls them episodes 101 and 102 of season 1 of "Constantine: City of Demons".

So, here are the parts that I think need to change:

  • Infobox
    • 5 episodes of 6-7 minutes: That's just the first half. I think it should say 2 episodes of 29-39 minutes, but maybe 5 episodes of 6-7 minutes plus 1 of 39 minutes?
    • March 24, 2018 – present: The series ended with the release of Part Two and/or the release of the 90-minute DVD version.
  • Episodes
    • No. 1-5: This combines all 5 episodes into a single entry. I doubt anyone wants it broken up into 5 separate rows—but if it's going to be treated as if it were a single episode, and it _is_ actually a single episode in the final release, it should probably be numbered 1 or 101, not 1-5.
    • "The Legend Continues": This name was not used in the initial CW Seed release, or the final release; it was only used for the TV broadcast. It would probably be better to list it as "City of Demons: Part One", as in the final release.
    • The second half is not included at all.
  • Release
    • "Writer J. M. DeMatteis later confirmed that seven more episodes are planned for release," He did confirm that, but it turned out not to be the case; the seven more episodes were instead combined into the single episode 2.
    • "… as well as a DVD and Blu-ray release featuring 20 minutes of extra footage, similar to Vixen: The Movie." Do we need to mention somewhere that the DVD version finally released was actually 22 minutes longer than the CW Seed version?
    • This should almost certainly mention the two-episode version that ended up on CW Seed. Unfortunately, I don't know when that release happened. I _think_ it was somewhere in October 2018, but obviously me thinking I remember vaguely is not a reliable source.
  • Reception
    • Should this include Schedeen's updated review for the movie? He ends up awarding it 7.5 instead of 8.1—basically, he still liked the concept, but found it dragged a bit in the middle, and seemed more bothered by the DCAU style ("the clean, simple animation style doesn't quite do justice to the subject matter").
    • There are at least two more reviews of the movie version on Rotten Tomatoes. (As far as I know, there are no reviews of the complete CW Seed version, only the 5-episode "preview", and the DVD.) Not enough for a tomatometer rating to quote, but probably worth doing the usual thing of combining the critics' reviews instead of sticking to just one. --157.131.201.206 (talk) 07:30, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I've changed what I could, but I leave the rest up to someone who knows Wikipedia style better.

Also, I think the cast list should change format. The idea of "recurring" vs. "guest" characters doesn't make as much sense for 2 episodes as for the originally planned 12. But I'm not sure what to do about it. --157.131.201.206 (talk) 08:01, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Good work. I've merged the cast list. Furthermore, I've found a source that states that the second half was released post-film, which sounds about right, as I remember checking there recently and not seeing the second half. -- /Alex/21 08:33, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I just rewatched the CW Seed version, and I think I can write a plot summary.
Meanwhile, oddly, the cast list in the second episode is just repeated from the first--no mention of Nergal, Angels's two other forms, Mictlantecuhtli, the other demons… I think the movie had a complete cast list (although I don't have a DVD player to check…), and I think IMDB's page on the movie is accurate. I believe all of the characters credited in the movie appear in the shorter TV/web version (definitely all of the _actors_ do), but some of the demons' names from the movie are never given. Should we use that cast list? --157.131.201.206 (talk) 09:40, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, can we have two IMDB links, for the two versions? I checked the Vixen article, and it doesn't do that. But with Vixen, both versions have the correct credits, so it's less important. --157.131.201.206 (talk) 10:03, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
For the missing cast info: two actors, Kevin Michael Richardson and Rick D. Wasserman, are not credited. Missing significant characters include Nergal (Downes), Mictlantecuhtli (Wasserman), the five demons (Richardson, Wasserman, and O'Hare), and maybe Angela as an old man (Wasserman). The rest of the cast list is minor characters played by the same actors, but if we're going to include the plane announcer, we should probably include the driver, the doctor, etc. as well. (Unless they're not credited on the DVD, and IMDB got the information from some other, uncredited source). --157.131.201.206 (talk) 10:12, 8 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Part 2 release date[edit]

I changed all 19 January release dates to 17 January. It was wrong. Leaving a proof here for record: https://twitter.com/cwseed/status/1085992749394944000 Tehonk (talk) 06:57, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
