question on publication date[edit]

A quick google search indicates, aside from wikipedia and project gutenberg, a publication date of 1842 or 1843. Three George Sand novels I have include bibliographies of George Sand, and all list Consuelo's publication date as 1842. How can we verify this? --Lizstless 07:49, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I went ahead and edited the article, providing some refs for the dates. You were right, the first part appeared in 1842 (Feb. 1 to be precise [1])—1861 is the date when the second editions came out.
I also added a little bit on the wife of one of the sort-of publishing partners being the model for the main character 'cause I found it pretty interesting. And I added an English version of the opening paragraph, taken from the 1889 translation by one Frank H. Potter.[2] Personally I'm not sure what the point of the First Sentence section is, but since it's there, I figured it should at least have the lines in English too :)
And if anyone knows of a better way of referencing the dates or the translation, please do. I'm horrible at reffing stuff on wikipedia. --Severinus 08:49, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
