I don't know much about the policy, but although 'cool beans' is slang, i'm not attempting to just use the slang definition for the wiki entry.

As far as I've found, no one really knows what 'cool beans' means. If anything, this is a start.

Poorly written[edit]

From the article: "Words like "hot" and "bitchin" developed as demeaning attacks on women." - is this article truly suggesting these words were specifically developed in order to demean women? If it's suggesting those words/phrases lost currency because that's how people started to see them, it should say that. The complete lack of sources really hurts this. Misspelling?[edit]

In the early 90s a new form evolved when youngsters mispelled the word "kool beans," but upon learning the true spelling of "cool" never went back.

That is the most ridiculous claim I've ever heard on a wikipedia page. For the simple fact that "cool beans" was being used in the same context of "cool", that doesn't make sense. People misspell that stuff on purpose or to be 'cute'. Does anyone honestly think that "kewl" is a separate word not related to cool? Or that "boi" does not have its roots in "boy"? Factually incorrect[edit]

I've never seen any source that says the phrase was originated in the early 70s. It's cited from urbandictionary. Maybe some time later I'll work on finding some more legit sources. I mean wikitionary even has something more reasonable. Melink14 02:22, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Beans is Back![edit]

As i have just learnt the phrase "cool beans" or "kool beans" is a pretty old piece of slang dating back to the 60's however over the past few weeks this phrase popped up around my school and now is know by everyone so all you old timers can be expecting to hear it again, because KOOL BEANS IS BACK!!!

Expand, merge or redirect[edit]

This page is a mere dictionary definition (something which Wikipedia is not). It explains the meaning, some alleged origins and usage of the slang phrase. I can't find any encyclopedic content on this page. The definitions and usage discussions belong over in Wiktionary where folks with the right skills, interests and lexical tools can more easily sort out the meanings and origins.

Options to fix the page here include:

Expand the page with encyclopedic content - that is, content that goes well beyond the merely lexical.
Redirect the page to a more general page on the appropriate sub-genre of slang.
Replace the current contents with a soft-redirect to Wiktionary (usually done using the {{wi}} template).

The History shows a lot of editors kept changing the diffinition, adding and deleting information[edit]

I was looking through all the older versions, and am surprised by just how much everything changed. If it was mentioned in a movie, that should be included. If someone famous popularizes it, that should be mentioned also. And every possible definition as well. And a functioning link to the [wiktionary entry] would be nice too. This idea (that it came from Cheech & Chong, particularly the movie "Up in Smoke") is commonly mentioned in various articles about "cool beans", but I can't find evidence of this in online movie transcripts. Stay (talk) 20:14, 18 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
