Assessment comment[edit]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Coon Rapids, Minnesota/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

The past mayors that redirected links to other pages are not at all correct - the links should be disabled unless specific pages are added for the specific mayors.

The general page information is adequate, but work needs to be done to keep it up to date. If possible it should be written so as not to become outdated if not updated (specifically after elections of local officials).

Early Coon Rapids History / Whitmore O'Brien[edit]

Yesterday I edited the history section to mention the Wetmore / Whitmore O'Brien story in Minnesota Pioneer Sketches. The edits provided a clearer picture of CR in the days before the damn building (O'Brien arrived in 1855 - Anoka was already then a "prosperous lumbering village". This is a significant book of newspaper-published sketches of MN Pioneers.

Wikipedia user John from Idegon reverted the changes with no reason given. My changes were made in good faith and provide a more full picture of CR in the earliest days (the article otherwise mentions nothing between 1835 and 1881 and so fills in a significant gap). They were properly sourced.

I will revert John from Idegon's changes unless good reason not to is given. As the CR's own history page states, CR in its earliest days had an agricultural past, which the OBrien story is emblematic of. MN Pioneer Sketches would also be an important resource for anyone wanting to develop a more comprehensive history of the city, and so should be included in the references. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skates61 (talkcontribs) 12:03, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
