Notability[edit]

I'm not sure I see how this particular road is notable. Is there something special about it (e.g. is it historical in some sense?) that makes it more notable than the average street? --TheOtherBob 19:38, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

" This is where the historical scenic drive of Coral Way begins. There is a sign marking this" - you must have skipped over this when reading the article. - Marc Averette 00:33, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, I saw that - but what makes it historical? Was it featured in books or movies, or the site of something? Did Hemingway write about it? (Those are by no means the only way it could be notable - but you see what I'm driving at). What makes this road different from every other road? At the moment all I see is that it's a road, that it goes from one point to another point, and that one part of it is the Coral Gables Miracle Mile. It may well be notable - but I'm struggling see the notability from the article. --TheOtherBob 00:43, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Aren't historical scenic drives "notable" by definition? - Marc Averette 03:28, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think the addition of the history makes it a lot better - it's a road that has linked Miami and Coral Gables since the 1920's. I think that's probably notable - I might even move that part up in the article to emphasize it more, since it seems to be the rationale behind having an article about this drive. Before it was just a statement that the drive was "historical" without the context that it needed. --TheOtherBob 03:36, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. I'm sure there's a bit more to add to the history and I'll look around the net for some notable things about it also. - Marc Averette 19:29, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

U.S. Roads Attention[edit]

Given that Florida State Road 972 redirects to this article, it would seem that this article now falls (again) under WP:USRD, so I've gone ahead and thrown the project banner up there.

I've drawn attention to this article because I'm confused and unsure how to proceed with it (maybe it's just me being rash due to my novicehood...), and it's going to bug me until this gets resolved. I understand, from the article and maps, that SR 972 only corresponds to a portion of the road, something that seems to be common in the South Florida area (e.g. SR 858 and SR 824)), so I would write the Route description section as per these two routes; however, SR 824 links to that particular article and not one called "Pembroke Road". Yet, to further complicate matters, Red Road and SR 959 are separate articles, despite SR 959 being entirely on a portion of Red Road like SR 972 is entirely on Coral Way.

So, would it be worthwhile to split the articles (again) or should this article be renamed "Florida State Road 972" with "Coral Way (street)" redirecting to it?

Does anyone else have any other ideas? -DyluckTRocket (talk) 04:41, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the help, folks. -DyluckTRocket (talk) 12:19, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
What needs to be sorted out to get this article to C-class? -DyluckTRocket (talk) 12:30, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I was going to say some history, but I didn't see it was already there. So that's my fault for not being thorough. I have bumped it accordingly. –Fredddie 13:21, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
