Surf etiquette[edit]

Suggestion you may or may not want to tackle. There is an unspoken rule/law, whatever in the water regarding waves as we all know. While that's great in contests, there is absolutely no place for it on most beaches and the more surfers that understand or accept this idea, the better. I had a 15 year old cousin froom Texas come out last summer and helped him learn some water skills in Newport. He got caught up and excited ane was going in all day every day-he got stoked. I was watching when another surfer shot his board @ him and fortunately hit him where he wasn't injured. Could have been disatrous as you know. It was before blackball and he was on a boogie board That particular time. You know, he was out here for a week. We went alot of places, did alot of great things. His main memory of his first (and maybe last) California trip was that incident. Hopefully oif you can address how pathetic this attitude in the water is, alot of your readers will gain some insight and hopefully back off that behavior. By the way, I statred surfing in 1959 @ Pokai Bay (Waianae). My sister rode tandem w/Buffalo and I got pulled out @ Waikiki by Rabbit K.after an injury from one of those 80 pound outrigger canoe club pink boards (sewed up @ tripler hospital-I was 11 years old). It shouldn't matter your skill, name , place, or whatever, trying to hurt someone to teach them a lesson should never be an option for true surfers — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.133.86.13 (talk) 17:08, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
