Family?[edit]

According this 1891 source, Jacques Specx, governor-general of the Dutch East Indies, was born around 1585 in Dordrecht as the son of one Cornelis Specx, who had fled from Brabant from religious persecution (e.g. in 1583-6 Antwerp drained because of the French and Spanish Fury). Specx is not too common a name, and both being active in the East Indies, they may have been family, even father and son. I could not confirm or reject their relationship.
