In Regards to Quote & Translation[edit]

The following is presently found under the WORKS section:

"Regarding the possibility of a heretical Pope[clarification needed], he said:
Were the Pope to fall into public heresy, he would ipso facto cease to be Pope, yea, even to be a Christian believer."[dubious – discuss]

The source given is this Google Books link.

The source that should be hyperlinked is this Google Books link, which directs the user to Cornelius a Lapide's commentary on Matthew. The quote in question is on page 410 -- page 412 on the Google Play book.

The translation I rendered from a particular passage on that page reads:

"For the Pope in the Church is more than a king in a kingdom: for this king receives power from his own republic, the Pope truly does not receive his power from the Church, but immediately from God: therefore in no case is he able to be deposed by the Church, but only to be declared to have fallen out of the Pontificate. If (God forbid) he were to fall into public heresy, accordingly he would ipso facto cease to be pope, aye, [he would ipso facto cease] to be faithful and Christian."

I am going to proceed with changing the link, editing the translation to be more true to the original verbiage, and clarifying what a previous editor termed a "heretical Pope."
