It's probably important to mention the significance of Re Wakim; ex parte McNally in this article - and the effect that had on the (then) extant Corporations Law. Sambo 15:59, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Criticisms of complexity[edit]

I couldn't find any links on the web which support the claim "It is presently the largest corporations statute in the world". Is there a reference to back this up?

I realise it's large, here are my page counts thus far:

Corporations Act 2001, 2249 pages in 5 volumes.
Corporations Regulations 2001, 1099 pages in 11 volumes.
Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001, 331 pages.

Supposedly countries like New Zealand and Sweden have equivalent corporations law that number just a few hundred pages, but I'd like to see if somebody has done some kind of formal research on the matter. 59.167.219.247 06:38, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
