Towns and Villages to be added —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.191.232.98 (talk) 14:04, 30 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Towns and Villages might be re-titled Towns/Villages and Settlements

Achonry should be removed as it is not a village or settlement.

The following are small villages or settlements and should be added to the list:

Ballincar, Ballintogher, Ballygawley, Banada, Bellaghy, Culfadda, Curry, Ransboro, Rathcormack.

Can anyone put IPA pronunciation here ? Hal06 17:03, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I second the request. Unfortunately, I'm no good with IPA, but this page http://www.answers.com/topic/sligo-town indicates that it's pronounced with a long i. --Rkstafford 03:52, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So, it is pronounced Sla-go, is it not? Arbiteroftruth 18:59, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comment moved[edit]

The following comment was moved from the article itslef to this talk page:

Carrickbannager and Rathbraughan are only townlands and should be removed form list John O.

--The.Q | Talk 14:33, 17 January 2007 (UTC) I think there should be told something about the history of Sligo.[reply]

Derry[edit]

The.Q undid my recent addition of Derry to the list of towns and villages in Sligo. I'm not from the county myself so I don't know whether or not there is a place called Derry there, but I added it because if you go to Derry (disambiguation) you will find reference to it there. Can someone help? Is there or isn't there a place named Derry in County Sligo? I'd be interested to know.

Yes there is a townland named Derry. It is app. one mile north of Grange village.

The map on this website appears to suggest that the place does exist. 81.152.144.209 11:58, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The new lead[edit]

Sligo County Council is mentioned in the second paragraph; no need to duplicate the information in the "lede". Sarah777 (talk) 12:37, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Curry[edit]

I have removed Curry (County Sligo) from the list of towns and villages as no article exists though one is probably viable. Thankyou. Djm-leighpark (talk) 07:32, 12 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
