Database?[edit]

Hey there, I just wanted to ask about this here, but does anybody know if there's any sort of database anywhere? I've been trying to look for this for a while, and I just can't seem to find one anywhere. Maybe there could be a really obscure reference somewhere that I don't know about.

The best we as a project have been able to do is Imzadi1979 contacted WisDOT a few years ago and got some route logs from the early 2010s for a couple maintenance districts. That's neither comprehensive nor current, nor do I know if CTHs were included. If you figure something else out, be sure to let us know at WT:USRD. –Fredddie ™ 17:21, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I actually did a little bit more looking around last night, and I managed to come across this page. The road maps can be found by typing "roads" in the search bar, followed by the county name. This is the best that I could find, and it seems to work pretty well! The only issue would be the termini but those can also be found by looking at the county maps provided by WisDOT, as well as Google Maps. -Ethan TBKS1 (talk) 06:37, 29 January 2021 (UTC==)

Verbage Guidelines[edit]

Good afternoon, I've started working on this page beginning with Kenosha County (You can see my progress so far in my sandbox). I have a couple questions about structure and consistency, namely when describing the termini and local names for roads. Are there any guidelines available for this? I primarily need guidance on the following topics:

- How to list the terminus in cases where the CTH ends at a 4-Way Intersection, a T-Intersection, or when the CTH becomes a new road.

- How to list the terminus in cases where the CTH ends at a county or state boundary.

- How to handle instances of gaps in a CTH, where the CTH ends and then continues under the same designation elsewhere.

- How to list the local names for a CTH in instances where a CTH covers more that one local road (List all local roads, or just the one or two of which the CTH covers the most?)

- How to properly provide the named settlement closest to where the CTH terminates (Closest settlement within 1 mile of the termination point, else provide the name of the township?)

@Mecheyethe4th: creating lists of county roads is generally discouraged except for statewide systems. I would personally kill the entire section in this article with all of the redlinks for future county lists because they shouldn't be created, and they'd probably be nominated for deletion if created. That said:

In describing the terminus, list all of the roadways at the terminal intersection, separating individual roadways with line breaks as necessary to avoid the implication of concurrencies that don't exist.
List the name of the roadway that continues in the adjacent county or state.
Gaps are tricky. Each segment could get its own row in the table. There is another way where the two southern termini are listed and separated by a <hr/> in the one column, and the two northern termini are listed and separate the same way in the other column. (Ditto western and eastern termini.)
List all local names or none.
List the name of the municipality where the terminus is located. That means listing the town if it's not within the boundaries of a village or city. If the terminus is the county line, we'd list the town inside the subject county as the location.

I hope this helps, but please read the note of caution I gave at the start of this reply. Lists of county roads are not really considered notable. With over 3,100 counties (or equivalents) in the US, that's not a can of worms the US Roads WikiProject has wanted opened. Imzadi 1979 → 15:52, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Concurrencies[edit]

The article gives an example where County P and County W run concurrently and would be referred to as County PW. I believe that's incorrect, and both colloquially and from a signage standpoint, one would refer to the highway as either or mention both separately.
