Should we merge this with Covenant (biblical). Although not entirely unique to the Judaeo-Christian tradition, the idea of covenant is developed much further in that tradition than in any other, so most of what we are going to be able to say about this topic will be about the biblical notion. So that suggests there is no point having one (inevitably brief) article for the topic in general, and one much longer for the biblical topic -- we could just move the non-biblical information to a section of the biblical article, with a heading like "In other traditions"? --SJK (talk) 00:25, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with Covenant (biblical)[edit]

In my (years ago) study on the subject, there was a lot of information on the institution of "Covenant" throughout the Ancient Near East and am frankly surprised there's not more here. I would prefer "Covenant (religion)" be expanded rather than merged. As it stands, though, it could certainly be a section within "Covenant (biblical)."
