Bernette[edit]

http://www.highdesertdrifter.com/coyote.shtml says the town's original name was "Burnett" rather than "Bernette"...? Paulburnett (talk) 16:12, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Most likely "Burnett". There's a Burnett Avenue and a Burnett School (currently mothballed) at the northern edge of Morgan Hill, just 6 miles south of Coyote, no doubt named after an early local farming family.—QuicksilverT @ 06:18, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Geography, geology and climate[edit]

Geography, geology and climate in Coyote and the surrounding area is very similar to that of Morgan Hill, California, some 7 miles down the valley. I fudged a bit by copying some material verbatim from the latter's article. However, the annual rainfall and average temperatures may need to be tweaked a bit, if data can be found or interpolated; there is no airport in Coyote and no official NOAA weather observation station. The prevailing wind in the area is from the northwest, i.e., coming from San Francisco Bay. As the air moves from the bay down the Santa Clara Valley toward Gilroy, it tends to warm up, so summer daytime highs in Morgan Hill are typically about 3°F warmer than in San Jose. Changes in temperature usually entail changes in relative humidity, so that may affect rainfall, as well. A difference of 7 miles may not seem like much, but in the Coast Range of California we're dealing with microclimates, and they can differ significantly over relatively short distances.—QuicksilverT @ 06:45, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I live in San Jose just a few miles from Coyote Valley (its ALWAYS "Coyote Valley", never just "Coyote", but that's a different issue that I don't feel like addressing right now). Our weather matches much more closely with that of Morgan Hill then with the official San Jose weather. Therefore, describing the Coyote Valley based on Morgan Hill is not incorrect. 73.158.120.185 (talk) 03:29, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
