Say what??[edit]

"Coyote Valley" is just a local misnomer for the southern extension of the Santa Clara Valley. The latter extends from the southern end of San Francisco Bay all the way to Hollister, in northern San Benito County. Folks living a few miles south in Morgan Hill don't refer to it as the "Morgan Hill Valley", nor do people in San Martin, Gilroy or Hollister refer to it as the "San Martin Valley", "Gilroy Valley", etc.
As it now stands, the article will make longtime local residents squirm uncomfortably, as it is a horrible mash-up of marketing spam, hearsay and half-truths, and downright incompetent editing. In fact, I'm tempted to tag it for speedy deletion. It's interesting to note from the editing history that an unusually high proportion of the edits have been made anonymously by unregistered users. —QuicksilverT @ 06:31, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I disagree; it's a well-recognized area much like the neighboring Almaden Valley. The historic part of Coyote Valley, although small, has a long separate identity. The geographic area is easily recognized as distinct from urban San Jose and from Morgan Hill. It's been in the news for decades over development battles, and I would oppose deletion. Editing improvements are always helpful, though.Brian A Schmidt (talk) 03:54, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
