Review[edit]

Hi Zhengya3, good for you for creating a Wikipedia page on this topic! I’m surprised it did not exist yet and I’m glad someone from the iSchool is writing it. We are lucky to have much firsthand knowledge from our very own Matt Ratto. I would suggest saying who he is when you first introduce him in the article, like mentioning that he is a professor at the University of Toronto. I would definitely include some internal links too! Keep up the good work!

Here are some potential references:

Hey Zhengya3! Great article on critical making - it's such an interesting topic! Here are some thoughts that came to me while I was reading through your article: -The initial sentence of the article gives a first glimpse as to what critical making really is - more detail to create a clear picture would help the reader's understanding.

-What is Arduino - an explanation of what it is would help as you mention it later in the article as well.

-Does Arduino classify as a hardware property - I understood it to be only software?

-I would include a brief explanation or bio of who Matt Ratto is and what his contribution and significance is to critical making.

-Here's a link from the MARS Innovation site relating to Critical Making - http://marsinnovation.com/tag/critical-making-lab/

-Also to consider: the connection between 3D printing and Bioprinting and how it relates to critical making --AlienBreakfast (talk) 20:16, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Good Topic[edit]

Great article! The second paragraph really helped me get a better understanding of CM. Not being knowledgeable on the subject, should you include more references not written by Ratto? The use of one source could leave people to believe you are promoting Ratto or directly involved with his work. Maybe a more in-depth look at what was occurring before CM was coined. Looking around for articles to suggest I am coming up at a loss. Good luck! --Rauckstar (talk) 20:58, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Feedback[edit]

This is a fascinating topic! Thanks for writing about it. Your article is interesting and informative.

As I read it, I found myself asking if this phenomenon occurs distinctly from material possession hoarding, or is it always/often linked to that?

Do you need some references in your introductory paragraph? I'm interested in what you might put under Criticism. Perhaps this heading could be called Ramifications, and explain some of the problems that can result from this issue.

I am very interested in the version of this problem that is caused by people not knowing what is important to keep and what is not. These articles are indirectly related to your topic, coming from the information overload angle.

Also not your topic, but related, is the problem of not being able to disconnect from digital sources. Here is an article relating to internet addiction and teenagers:
