Proposed merge of Currency of Croatia into Croatian kuna[edit]

These two articles should be merged into one, preferably to Croatian kuna - The9Man (Talk) 05:51, 17 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Well, that's a possibility, but we could also rename that other article to a more appropriate descriptive title, e.g. History of Croatian currency? --Joy [shallot] (talk) 16:26, 1 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I oppose the merger. Even though Currency of Croatia article as-is coverage is very poor I think it has potential. I assume it is meant as an umbrella article to briefly introduce currencies used in modern Croatia and various polities normally thought of when discussing history of Croatia leaving details for standalone articles where appropriate. I would imagine this would include various medieval mints, currencies used by the Dubrovnik/Ragusan republic, whatever was in circulation in the Habsburg era, as well as 20th century currencies used in the territory now included in the Republic of Croatia before modern kuna - e.g. various Yugoslav currencies, NDH kuna, Yugoslav Lira (in Istria), Croatian Dinar of early 1990s... and of course modern kuna. Presumably, potential/planned/eventual Eurozone membership adds another topic to tackle there. On the other hand - very little of the above would qualify as history of (modern) Croatian kuna to warrant merger into Croatian kuna article. A more descriptive title per Joy's proposal would be better.--Tomobe03 (talk) 21:59, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I personally do not think that a merge is a perfect solution, but integrating content from the article Currency of Croatia into Croatian kuna is definitely a possibility. As an example: The Croatian language article (hr:Hrvatska kuna) contains a lot of history of currencies of Croatia in general. Best regards, Koreanovsky (talk) 20:24, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, in the meantime this discussion became stale. I've since copyedited History of Croatian currency, and noticed that marturina was documented. Since the phrase 'currency of Croatia' will be describing Croatia and the euro these days, it makes sense to cover the history of the phrase in a history article. Can you review History of Croatian currency @Koreanovsky? --Joy (talk) 11:30, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Image columns[edit]

Looks like all those table columns need to be deleted after https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/Images_of_Croatian_currency_designed_after_1952 ? --Joy [shallot] (talk) 14:32, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Recently we had the problem that people used to upload obv. copyrighted images to commons that obviously got deleted, within a few days reuploaded again just to be deleted etc. It seems now like it has been solved. Atleast I have not noticed anything. Best regards, Koreanovsky (talk) 20:26, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Replacement by Euro[edit]

The kuna was replaced by the Euro in digital cash on January 1, 2023, but the kuna was legal tender alongside the Euro for a two-week transition period until its withdrawal from circulation on January 14, 2023. 2603:8001:B202:3294:1E9:2C20:D1BF:CD23 (talk) 19:33, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
