Release Date[edit]

There's some disagreement in the references about whether this film was released in late 1915 or early 1916. This disagreement of a few weeks affects the title and URL of this page.

I'm taking as the authoritative source: Motography, 1 Jan 1916, page 50 – has a list of releases of the week, and it shows Cross Currents as being released 2 Jan 1916. ~Link~

Additionally: Motion Picture News, 8 Jan 1916, page 7 – Triangle Film Corporation has an ad for three "Triangle Plays for the First Week of the New Year." and Cross Currents is one of these.

Some contradicting references have a release date of 28 Nov 1915:

  • The IMDb page lists the film as "Cross Currents (1915)" in the page title, but then has a release date of 2 Jan 1916 in the fine print.
  • The Wikipedia page List of Triangle Film Corporation films has the release date as November 28, 1915. I'm taking this to be a mistake – possibly reflecting a planned release announced earlier in 1915?

1935 British Comedy Cross Currents[edit]

There's an existing page for a 1935 British comedy with the same title: Cross Currents (film).

I've posted a question on that talk page about what kind of retitling should happen for the duplicated movie names.

I propose the following two titles:

  • Cross Currents (1916 film) – silent film - new page
  • Cross Currents (1935 film) – preëxisting page - changed name and url

I'm calling out "film" in these titles because the phrase "Cross Currents" might be used in many other contexts, and it's best to call these out as films. KKelvinThompson (talk) 21:44, 16 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
