Sewage pipes[edit]

The sentence about sewage pipes is confusing. I can't make heads or tails of what it means. Can anybody clarify? Stepho (talk) 03:19, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Computing device[edit]

The cruising rod takes the width of a log and using ratios (ie by multiplication/division) calculates the number of pieces of lumber that it can be cut into. That makes it a self-evident computing device - although of the simplest kind. Stepho talk 23:09, 10 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
