Could you explain this one? "DEC's corporate culture and business model, which were ill-suited to the rapidly developing consumer market for computers." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.185.6.171 (talk) 10:49, 21 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is just factually not true[edit]

"BYTE in 1984 reported that Venix on the PC outperformed the same operating system on the DEC Professional and PDP-11/23." The article, BYTE pg 134 says: No. 9 IBM PC XT version VENIX/86 9.0 Seconds. No. 8 PDP-11/23 Version VEXIX 5.5 Seconds. No. 14 DEC Pro/350 Version VENIX 6.3 seconds.

They did not add "Smaller is better" in those days because they thought that people would know better.

I must explain! Since a PDP-11/23 ran the benchmark in 5.5 seconds vs 9.0 seconds, it was FASTER. Less time = faster. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.254.26.9 (talk) 23:39, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
