Merging[edit]

A DTV receiver can be more than just a STB -- it can also be an integrated set with a display. The article here should be merged with digital television adapter. algocu (talk) 20:21, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Similar to a PC?[edit]

I don't agree that a DTV receiver is at all similar to a desktop PC. A DTV receiver can be a USB stick, which needs a PC to fully function, or an external box, that still needs a PC, or it can be a standalone box, that has a purpose built embedded processor designed to handle tuning and a/v decoding, and that's all. In this latter form, I would be hard pressed to say it's at all the same as a PC. Furthermore, is the goal of broadcasting really to make it expensive on the headend so that we can have cheap receivers? This may be one goal but not the goal.
