Move or split?[edit]

This article essentially contains a description of the Dally M Medal (NRL), the Dally M Medal (NSWRL/ARL), the Rothmans Medal (NSWRL/ARL) and the Rothmans Medal (BRL). This is all included under the title "Dally M Medal", but the aspect of the award which is considered continuous is through the Rothmans Medal (NSWRL/ARL) and the Dally M Medal (NRL). This is confusing and needs to be rectified.

I propose the following fixes, and I need someone who better understands the history of rugby league - as considered "official" by the governing body - to provide input on what is the best option.

  • Move the page to "Player of the Year award in rugby league in Australia" (or similar), and otherwise leave the article as it is.
  • Move the page to "Player of the Year award in the National Rugby League", and split the Queensland Rothmans Cup into a separate article. This is only accurate if the NRL is properly considered a continuation of the NSWRL/ARL, which I think is correct.
  • Split the page into "Dally M Medal" and "Rothmans Medal", and treat the two awards as completely separate. The Rothmans Medal page could then either include both the Queensland and New South Wales versions of the award, or could be subdivided further.

Any other suggestions are also encouraged. Aspirex (talk) 09:15, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have adopted the third option above, and split Rothmans Medal and Dally M Medal into separate pages.Aspirex (talk) 09:30, 14 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
