Dan Muller and Buffalo Bill[edit]

I hope that someone can help me out. There is so much written about Dan Muller that seems to rely on Muller's story about his relationship with Buffalo Bill, but there is a lot that's not adding up.

It seems very likely that at the very least Muller and Cody exchanged some letters.
There are some sources that state that Muller's assertions cannot be verified - like that he was legally adopted by Cody, that he saved him from the penitentiary at 15 for being a horse thief, and that he lived with Cody for 18 years. If that were the case, he would have at least a line in Cody's biography... and he would be mentioned in biographies about Cody.
There are a few places where Muller's viewpoint about specific events in Cody and Louisa's life are expressed, as if he was regularly in their household. No idea what to make of that.
There is no evidence that Muller ever worked in a Wild West show with Cody.

I am also not able to find anything about Cody being a scout with Muller's dad.

So my question: I have summarized the discrepancies between what Muller has said - and then that there's no corroboration, but I am not sure if that's the best way to go about it.

There are a number of sources that I have not chosen to use because most of the content is likely tall-tales about Muller's relationship with Cody. Any insights would be much appreciated.–CaroleHenson (talk) 06:18, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oops[edit]

Hi, I was in the middle of adding content and got an edit conflict. I copied my edits to the article again, but saw in the edit conflict comparison that there were edits I didn't make - like changing "location" to "place" and the order that the parameters flow in the citation templates. Sorry about that.
