Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedy deleted as being recently created, having no relevant page history and duplicating an existing English Wikipedia topic, because...:

  • I do not think this discussion should be about speedy deletion but redirecting /merging article. And if we only need one of the articles (I agree), I think it should be located at Danish Constituent Assembly and not at 1848 Danish Constituent Assembly election. It seems more natural to cover the election proces in an article about the Danish Constituent Assembly than covering the actual work of the assembly and other aspects not related to the election in an article about the election.
  • Furthermore, bear in mind that not all members of the Danish Constituent Assembly were elected. 38 members were appointed by the king and all government ministers (first in the so-called March Cabinet and later in the November Cabinet) were born members. The election is thus, again, a subtopic of the Danish Constituent Assembly while the opposite is not the case.
  • We have a category called Category:Constituent assemblies, it is not called Category:Constituent Assembly elections. And only one of the articles in the existing category is called something with "election" (Estonia).
  • And for whatever it is worth, the existing article did not have an interwiki link to the Danish article about Den Grundlovgivende Rigsforsamling and was not categorized in Category:Constituent assembles. If that had been the case, I would have seen it and proposed a move instead. But the existing article does not contain a list of the members (not even the elected ones) and that is another reason why the relevant discussion should be about a merger and not a speedy deletion.--Ramblersen2 (talk) 16:08, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This article is not a duplicate. It provides a full list of all those elected while the other only describes the election in general terms. A merge is possible but two separate articles would probably be better. Mccapra (talk) 05:25, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Copied comment from talk page[edit]

Copied from my Cabayi's talk page - we should really keep this discussion on a single talk page:

Shirt58, I think, on reflection, I'd argue all the material should be histmerged into 1848 Danish Constituent Assembly. Putting everything under the election title seems misplaced when not all of the members were elected. However, the material in Ramblersen2's Danish Constituent Assembly needs to be fully translated first. Cabayi (talk) 17:25, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
User:Cabayi: I think Danish Constituent Assembly is a better title than 1848 Danish Constituent Assembly. 1) It is the only Danish Constituent Assemble and the year is therefore unnessary 2) It remained active into 1849 and it could therefore be argued that it should be "1848–49" - simply excluding the year solves this problem 3) The Danish name is "Den Grundlovsgivende Rigsforsamling" without the year mentioned 4) Compare for instance Norwegian Constituent Assembly (not 1814 Norwegian Constituent Assembly).Ramblersen2 (talk) 17:57, 11 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ramblersen2, OK, I don't feel that strongly about the year. Your reply overlooks the points about merging articles and finishing the translation. Any thoughts? Cabayi (talk) 08:20, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Cabayi and Ramblersen2: Apologies if I have caused unnecessary fuss. My task as an WP:ADMIN was to decide whether (the new article) Danish Constituent Assembly was ao substantially the same as (the existing article) 1848 Danish Constituent Assembly election that it met the WP:A10 speedy deletion criterion. I think that decision was correct. With access to the sysop buttons, I can see that there has never been an English language Wikipedia article "1848 Danish Constituent Assembly". I guess this may now a WP:CONTENTDISPUTE and following WP:INVOLVED is should stop editing about this. But as per WP:SHIRT58ISANICEGUYANDISALWAYHAPPYTOHELPOUT, please let me know if I can be any assistance at all with this. Pete AU aka Shirt58 (talk) 10:13, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
