There are several places called Arcy in Northern France, these Darcys could have originally been d'Arcy "from Arcy" or "of Arcy" ? There are several places called Darcy as well : Darcy, Picardy; Darcey (variant spelling), Burgondy; Saint-Clair-d'Arcey, Normandy, former Darcey (Old Norman variant forms Derchei, Darchai) and Dercé, which is the same.
