Two questions[edit]

  1. Will the stadium ever have the south endzone enclosed like the north endzone in 2008?
  2. If this happens, what would be the approximate capacity?--BigMac1212 02:28, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I know there are no plans on the drawing board to enclose the south enzone. This is just my opinion but my thoughts are:
  1. I doubt it. They have just put a very expensive High-Definition scoreboard there which would be in the way of new seats. Any significant number of new seats there would also require ripping into the field house.
  2. If they did build it, then the number of seats added would vary depending on how big they went, how many sky-boxes they include, etc. The North end zone expansion is adding about 5,000 seats. On the one-hand, the south end-zone could be bigger than that because they would be able to add two new decks as opposed to one new deck. On the other hand, they have to save space for a scoreboard somewhere. So, I'd guestimate they could fit in 5,000 to 15,000 seats there, depending on what they do with the scoreboard, how many luxury boxes, etc.
My rhetorical question is, at what point can you no longer expand/patch-up an old stadium and how do you plan for the collosal task of building a new one from scratch? Johntex\talk 18:24, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Update: Just found this picture of a model of a fully enclosed DKR said to be able to seat 100K+. If anyone knows more about this - please post a link. Thanks! Johntex\talk 03:39, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
My roommate was on the Athletic Counsel in 2004-2005 and I remember him telling me that the long term plan was to enclose the south end as well, dunno how that'll work though with the HD screen and the building. - Enoch Lai
A recent article in the Dallas Morning News notes the following: "Capacity at Royal-Memorial Stadium eventually will reach 112,000." I've sent an email to the author of the article requesting a source. jareha (comments) 19:58, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The journalist got back with me pretty quickly. He got the 112,000 figure from someone who's talked to Dodds about stadium expansion. jareha (comments) 23:56, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cost of 2008 Expansion[edit]

An anonymous editor just changed the cost of the 2008 expansion from 149.9 to 176 million, without providing any other details. I changed it back because the source we cite says 149.9. If the cost has gone up, then a new sentence needs to added along with a new source. We don't want to just change the fact and thereby create a disagreement with the cited source. Gallery[edit]

Arent these generally frowned upon on wikipedia? I think a link to commons should suffice. Corpx 06:02, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, they are generally frowned upon. I have mixed feelings on the issue. On the one hand, it is a little redundant compared to just pointing to Commons. On the other hand, human nature being what it is, many readers will not bother to go out to Commons. I think the very best solution is to work the images into the article so that they make sense and so they don't need to be in a gallery. Johntex\talk 22:06, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Title[edit]

Is the dash in the title appropriate use? Should it not be an n dash? Lara♥Love 18:27, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • That's how the official site has the title MBTS Corpx 19:05, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Also, please note that Darrell K Royal does not have a "." after the K. The "K" is not an initial, it is his full name. Hence, there is no period in the stadium name either. Johntex\talk 18:31, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Way too much recentism[edit]

The article is heavily weighed towards the upgrades from the last few years. I think the gozillatron section should be removed completely (as the info is from the Godzillatron article and have a one or two line mention in the timeline. Same for the bleachers etc. Corpx (talk) 08:48, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
