Relevance of this article[edit]

Why does there need to be a separate article about David Cook discography? Let's remove the idol section from the main article and merge this there... jee (talk) 00:38, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is enough information about David Cook's music now, that it should be on its own page. I am assuming you are talking about the section "Post-Idol Career"? That information doesn't belong on a discography page. Discography pages are for listing information about their albums, EPs, singles, charted songs, and other information relavent to their music albums etc. This doesn't includes Tours however. It is very unlikely that an artist will go on enough tours to merit their own Tourography page, so they are listed in chronologically in their own section on the artist's main page. Also, once David has done more stuff, the category will change from "Post-Idol" to "2008-____" or something similar to that. But there is not enough info yet. And if you meant the section about him actually being on American Idol, then it can't be move to the discography page for the reason above, but also because it is a significant part of his career that needs to be on the artist's page. DavidCookOfficial.com[edit]

The website, DavidCookOfficial.com, is not a reliable, third-party source and should not be used as a source for singles sales numbers per Wikipedia:RS. Therefore I am going to remove the numbers and source. Aspects (talk) 21:56, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have already mentioned that the source is RCA Ed, the mod at the David Cook, Adam Lambert and Daughtry's official website. He is affiliated with RCA and therefore have access to Soundscan information. I had previously asked for opinion as to whether he should be considered a reliable source at the Idol Alumni Album discussion page because other people kept putting his numbers in that page. You have months to voice an opinion, yet you didn't bother to voice any opinion, instead choosing to delete thing others spent time putting in. This is something you seem to have a habit of doing, deleting things instead of voicing opinion when opinions have previously been solicited in discussion page, and I don't appreciate you doing this. The discussion is for discussing things. If you don't like the numbers, then say so in the discussion pages when opinions are solicited, don't let other waste their time doing something that will get deleted. I don't put any numbers in lightly, and I asked for opinion first if there is any doubt. If you don't voice any opinion, then I would assume that you have no objection. That is what I assume to be the proper behavior for engaging in constructive edit, I hope you will appreciate that I don't want to see you doing something unhelpful like that again.

You should also clarify first why someone officially affiliated with RCA and with access to sound information should be consider unreliable. All numbers look reasonable, you chose to delete those but instead left ridiculous numbers easily shown to be false in Daughtry and Adam Lambert's pages untouched. I never saw your post there and when I saw the numbers added here, I reverted them with an edit summary explaining my reasoning. A discussion thread on an artist's website hardly qualifies as a reliable source as I stated above. Per WP:BRD, now that it is being discussed it should not be added back to the article until there is consensus that it is a reliable source. Aspects (talk) 00:30, 1 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
