See edit notes: he doesn't meet notability requirements . He is notable for only one event, so his relevant information belongs in the election article and his name should redirect to that. Those are the rules, and they've been forced upon other nominees in the state, but life is short and I don't really care if you want to make him an exception. 184.78.81.245 (talk) 06:19, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It meets W:Notability requirements on several levels. You should have also requested a deletion first, rather than doing deletion on your own. He is not the exception. He is notable, if only temporary. Then deletion could be discussed. See WP:NTEMP, WP:GNG, and WP:N in general.

Suspending the US Constitution[edit]

The house representative has made recent comments on national media stating that he would support a republican candidate for president who was advocating and calling for the constitution to be suspended. this is obviously a singularly remarkable statement, and will be added to his article. 73.221.170.158 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 16:30, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

While many have called Trump's statement as calling for "suspension", but the term he used, and used in the Hill article, was "termination". Suggest maybe it shoudl be "Suspending/terminating the US Constitution". @billharshaw Bill Harshaw (talk) 23:37, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Page display issue[edit]

On this page, the 2012 and 2014 "electoral history" display makes the whole page "shrink" to fit the screen. These two features are wider than the rest of the page. When I click on "hide"- the page appears normal.

Can or should the default setting be to "hide" these features to allow the page to display normally?

Is there a way to have these features display without "shrinking" the page?

Are there other pages that have this same issue?

Please, let me know if there is a better place to discuss this display issue.

@Ooligan MOS:DONTHIDE says text should not be hidden because it can interfere with readers' ability to access content.
I, too, get frustrated when over-wide tables are used without thinking. In the case you've brought to attention, I think the tables should be split so that the candidates data is arranged conventionally in a series of rows and columns, such as
Election results[1]
Year Office Election Candidate Party Votes %
2012 U.S. House of Representatives General Dave Joyce Republican 183,660 54%
Dale V. Blanchard Democratic 131,638 38.7%
Elaine Mastromatteo Green 13,038 3.8%
David Macko* Libertarian 11,536 3.4%

@Bazza 7 Your compact table looks great. Should I discuss this on the talk page above to suggest a change? Is this a broader issue related to other pages with tables that could be discussed? -- Ooligan (talk) 23:09, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ooligan: Thanks: I used source editing; it took a few minutes as it was just a case of rearranging the table row markers and making sure the column spans were adjusted. You could [[WP:BOLD|be bold]] and make your improvements regardless. If [[WP:BRD|someone disagrees and reverts your change, then that's the time to discuss]], and you could refer to this conversation in the process. Alternatively, I can do the changes, but it won't be for a while.
(I have amended the table above to remove the "hide" option, which seems pointless to include.) Bazza (talk) 09:10, 3 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Bazza 7 No rush, but could you do the change when you have time. Again, your table is looks great. Thank you for your idea. -- Ooligan (talk) 09:28, 3 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Ooligan Found a spare 30 minutes, so all done on that page. Bazza (talk) 10:37, 3 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again for you help. -- Ooligan (talk) 17:49, 3 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
