Obst and Random House[edit]

This states that Random House wanted to "acquire" Obst's publishing business

Obst's birthdate[edit]

Alex Kyczynski of The New York Times stated, "Obst says he was born in 1946, but he also says his mother was pregnant with him a month after D-Day, so we can't be sure how accurate a historian he is to begin with." (see the page of his review)

From:

  • Chapter 1 of the Obst book: "My parents got married shortly after D-Day. The night Ike spoke to the troops, he could have been addressing Ray and Goldie. He said, "You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade. Your task will not be an easy one. Let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon your great and noble undertaking. God give you strength." They would need it. A month later my mother was pregnant with me."

D-Day was in June 1944. Obst stated in the same chapter "JANUARY 5, 1946 (I'M BORN)" - So it makes his birthdate unclear and Kyczynski may be right about this... WhisperToMe (talk) 02:37, 10 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
