Previous discussions without headers[edit]

I had the opportunity to meet and talk to David Plouffe in Chicago, and I asked him where he got his education... and he said he went to high school at St. Marks High School in Delaware and graduated from the University of Delaware. Unfortunately, there is no alumni list that I've been able to uncover from internet search engines to cite the source. Anyone know what we should do? Second, I got a photo with Plouffe, though it's not the most fantastic picture of the guy... should we add it? I don't quite know how to do that kind of thing. Last, this article seriously needs to be cleaned up. It's basically copied and pasted from a AKP & Associates profile on the guy. --Pruiz 09:28, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi... I did a fair amount of work on this; see if it reads better. There was wacky stuff, like having the hobbies in the middle, and continuing to mix up the chronology. Also, I moved the Obama Senate Campaign to the summary - since it is not part of the Presidential campaign. Anyway, see what you think... Gacggt (talk) 19:14, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]


Oh... also... do people agree that the lede should be changed to: "David Plouffe is the campaign manager for Barack Obama's 2008 campaign to become President of the United States." That seems a lot stronger than the current lede, which seems oddly to focus on Plouffe being a Democratic consultant. I fixed things up, adding the education info and further info from the new Chicago trib bio. I eliminated the criticism of Clinton. University education[edit]

The article needs to tell what discipline (e.g., political science, journalism) his undergraduate degree is in. Time Magazine 31 May 2011 issue said "(he) is an engineer", but I suspect it was a metaphor for one who quantifies and analyzes data, etc., rather than meaning he truly earned an engineering degree. birthdate[edit]

Hi there, I've just discovered, that there are citations for the birthdate available. In August 2008 Astanhope inserted "circa 1967" for the first time. Later Zzedar changed it to "1967" and referenced [http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=aTd9on6ohWJg bloomberg and nationaljournal (which is offline, use [http :// www.freerepublic.com /focus/news/1994667/posts]). Both sources only mention his current age: national journal 40 at March 31, 2008, bloomberg 41 at June 16, 2008. This leads to the conclusion that May 27 may be possible, but still there is no source for this date. Any ideas? --Flominator (talk) 14:17, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

additional info[edit]

Any information on how international campaigns are handled and whether is there any form of suppression of speech or other means to gain political points especially in countries which have less stringent rules? Apparently nowadays US politics tries to mimic other countries affairs so there is a turnaround when campaigns fail.

Should this Article be semi-protected?[edit]

The Uber documents leak may well become relevant to this BLP, given his senior management role there. And this article seems to attract some vandalism. BTW, the Uber ‘continuing breaking news’ includes a reference to Plouffe in today’s Washington Post major story on the leaker, Mark MacGann: https://www.washingtonpost.com/media/2022/07/11/uber-files-whistleblower-mark-macgann/ The Uber connection is one major reason why I revised and strengthened the Article ShortDesc today (per NPOV also).
