Unsigned comment[edit]

Just took out:

"That the actor with a Jewish heritage should portray, or has been chosen to portray, one of the more famous creations of an anti-semitic author, Agatha Christie, is regarded as piquant by some."

A fairly contentious comment with no citation whatsoever. Tacked on awkwardly at the very end of the article. Removed while I wasn't signed in. Jentizzle (talk) 15:13, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

adapted every novel and short story[edit]

The following weren't adapted so I'm not sure the sentence in the article is correct

Black Coffee (a play - so technically correct) The Regatta Mystery The Lemesurier Inheritance Hercule Poirot and the Greenshore Folly The Capture of Cerberus (original - unrelated to story of the same name from The Labours of Hercules) The following from the series of short stories entitled ‘The Labours of Hercules’ The Nemean Lion The Lemaean Hydra The Cretan Bull The horses of diomedes The flock of Geryon The apples of Hesperides — Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.225.80.109 (talk) 13:24, 28 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Suchet's Jewish heritage: further implications[edit]

Let me first say that I have been an ardent fan of the BBC series "Hercule Poiret." In my opinion, and in the popular consensus, Suchet has arguably portrayed the definitive Poiret...a character, yes, created by that very talented writer of mysteries, and the very anti-Semitic, Agatha Christie. What I find most egregious, however, is Suchet's private life, his repudiation of his Jewish heritage, the veracity of which he has taken pains to investigate. Self-loathing Jews are not a novelty in a world where both subtle and virulent ant-Semitism has been a historical and contemporary fact. I personally find Suchet's conversion to Christianity, his allegiance to the Protestant Church of England, (the Episcopal, "aristocratic" branch of English Protestantism), a disappointing choice which garners him no respect from those who take pride in their lineage and heritage, no matter what that may be. Missing major performance[edit]

It should be added to this page that David Suchet voiced Aslan in a dramatized audio version of the Chronicles of Narnia.
