I don't know if anyone will reply to this but here it goes anyway, As some of you may know Davis is the former site of the legendary Blackwater 100 GNCC Racing Series event. This was known as "America's Toughest Race" "The Indy 500 of Off-Road Racing" and "The Fathers Day Massacre" well, I was just wondering how many people would support this race if it was still ran today. It was last ran back in 1993 and it used to bring lots of income to your town. This was shut down after the e-coli levels in the Blackwater River and other creeks around the area rose to unhealthy levels, your local power company, whose land encompassed much of the track, did not want an e-coli out break on their property and once this private land was no longer available the race was history.(you can read more about this at the GNCC Racing page) There are many people who miss this race, including me, I never got to go (mainly because I was only like 3 years old this last time it was raced) as I said before, I was just wondering how many people would appreciate this race if it was still around today.

I for one would go! My parents grew up in Davis, living there from '55 (or somewhere around there). I have fond memories of going back to Davis on Father's Day weekend for the Blackwater 100. My grandparents lived there until '90 when they moved. My grandpa says that towards the end, the race brought a bunch of trouble for the town. Instead of being there for the race itself, many people came in from out of town for the partying (think Bike Week, Sturgis, etc...) and the town just couldn't handle it. My guess is that that ecoli outbreak was just a good excuse for the town to get rid of something that was becoming a problem. What a bummer.
