My Fair Lady[edit]

The article says "Durbin turned down a Broadway role as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady because, as she later said, "I had my ticket for Paris in my pocket." - with a reference to https://variety.com/2013/film/obituaries-people-news/singer-actress-deanna-durbin-dead-at-91-1200430331/ - but that just says "She was tempted to return just once, for “My Fair Lady” on Broadway in 1956, but she resisted in the end." The quote does not make sense because she had been in Paris 6 years by then. I find that quote in various places but none that looks particularly reliable. In any event, this is probably better included further down with other things she turned down.

There is the famous anecdote that grew from Durbin and W.C. Fields living in adjoining mansions for several years.Fields, probably joking, said that if Durbin's singing disturbed his sleep he'd have no choice but to "get a good bead on her from the upstairs balcony". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.23.5.11 (talk) 16:30, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
