Is that a battle axe?

Is it just me, or does the axe the dealer hold look a lot more like a headsman's axe than like any battle weapon? --Svartalf (talk) 20:34, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Style::

There's no critical analysis offered of the painting that explains its popularity. The repetition of a 'conical' theme as multiple elements of the painting widen towards the bottom, reflecting eth shape of the rider's axe and head seems particularly significant.
