"Advantages and limitations over competitive processes"[edit]
The section for "Advantages and limitations over competitive processes" reads more like a collection of miscellaneous facts rather than an analysis of competitive processes, especially since it doesn't delineate any competitive processes. From my experience with various types of decanter centrifuges, I can see that some of the advantages and limitations apply only to certain applications. For instance, odor control is not an issue with solids control for oil and gas drilling applications, but it might be when processing manure on a dairy farm. Likewise, abrasion is not usually a concern when processing manure, but it is when processing cement particles from a CSM drilling operation. Maybe this section should be converted into "Application Specific Usage & Design Considerations" and reörganized as such. If I have time to work on this and research it further, I will help improve this section, but I urge others knowledgeable about decanter centrifuge use to contribute to this section. the overlap and/or identicalness of this device with a centrifugal contactor/extractor[edit]
I am aware that these devices are developed independently, for completely different applications, and there is a very different history behind both. The centrifugal contactor extractor was developed out of the nuclear weapons industry, but has since gone on to become an unspectacular generic piece of industrial equipment. The Centfigual decanters appear to have either emerged *independently* or at most it might be said that the industrial engineering companies who developed these produts eventually coordinated their designs. The decanter devices appear to have been born from the food/agriculture and beverage processing industries. Regardless They are the same functional devices and they only differ in application and the particulars of the application (For example, the decanters are often described as being designed to handle small amounts of entrained or suspended solids, whereas a contactor/separator would basically never be used that way).
