Lebanon's Hezbollah.[edit]

I don't think they are really a state within a state. They are too public. Officially a political party. The electoral system in Lebanon encourages organizations like Hezballah. They are really a so called Non State Actor.

Pre-Reich Germany[edit]

I've occasionally heard of factions of the German military, as well as others, in Germany more or less immediately following the end of the First World War, referred to as a "state within a state", perhaps, even originating the term and concept, though there have always been governments with various forms of shadowy arbitrating powers, though neither have the sources of knowledge to make a substantial addition to this article in that regard. I'm sure that someone out there knows of such things, however, and, so, just wanted to put this out there for someone to deck out the article. Daydreamdays2 (talk) 01:35, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nonsensical (?) paragraph[edit]

The fourth paragraph of the "Scholarly understanding" section has no sources whatsoever, and is written in such convoluted language, I have a really hard time determining if there is any meaning or whether it is wholly nonsensical. Can someone please sort this out? Thanks! --95.89.78.72 (talk) 14:20, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

United States section[edit]

The highlighted quote describes the deep state as a conflict between leader and state bureaucracy. In this context, I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration by Miles Taylor seems relevant, where he claimed he and 'many current members of the administration deliberately undermine [Trump's] suggestions and orders for the good of the country' (quote from the Wikipedia article). I don't know how to phrase this, but this seems exactly what is described in the quote.--95.89.78.72 (talk) 14:30, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
