Littleworth[edit]

I can't find any explanation for the name 'Littleworth'. It is the name of a farm, certainly, and of the former railway station. The main road through Hop Pole, D-S-N & Cowbit is called 'Littleworth Drove' on the OS (but 'Main Street' in the BT phone book entries). What, and where, is Littleworth?--Brunnian (talk) 19:47, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Longest village claim[edit]

The other claims I am aware of are Combe Martin with a 2 mile high street, [[Meopham] at 7.2 miles, Brinkworth at 7 miles and Long Melford, at something like 3 miles.

It all seems to hinge on what is meant. If it is diameter of the curtilage, or the extent of the high street and trading section, or what.

In the case of D-S-N are we including Hop Pole? is the length of the main road through the parish, or of just part of it. The whole thing seems too diffuse to make sense of, unless someone has a reference of some sort.

On summer weekends the M5 southbound from Bristol to Exeter is the longest caravan park in Britain. --Brunnian (talk) 15:53, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The church web site mentions the claim, but cannot justify it. --Robert EA Harvey (talk) 10:42, 18 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
