Pronouncition ?[edit]

Is 'default' spoken like "d-fault" or "deh-fo"? I've heard this word came from some French guy's lastname, which would explain the latter form. --200.18.97.3 10:47, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have heard both (from native speakers), but that doesn't mean both are correct, of course. According to my Oxford dictionary, the pronounciation is "deeFAULT".--JVersteeg (talk) 12:28, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When to use computer defaults[edit]

The paragraph mentions limiting user input and avoiding incorrect user input (though the latter point is not made very clearly), but shouldn't it also mention avoiding uninitiated variables?

Uninitiated variables can also be avoided by a simple assignment statement, like X=3. Would you call that a "default" ? StuRat 05:30, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
