Is Della African or African-American? If she's African, then I'm sure there's a specific country that can be named, seeing that Africa is a great, big continent made up of 54 countries. If she's half African-American, then that needs to be corrected.Rattlerbrat 05:12, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Hazel Scott was the first African-American woman to have her own TV show, in the late 40s, so I took out the assertian that Della Reese was the first in the late 60s. John FitzGerald 14:06, 25 May 2005 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Della.jpg

Image:Della.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Began what?

In the article, the following statement is made, but something is missing. Began what, preaching, or??

"Reese is godmother to the child of Touched by an Angel co-star, Roma Downey. Rev. Reese began ??? February 2009 by giving the invocation at The State of The Black Union, hosted by Tavis Smiley." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.129.170.102 (talk) 12:54, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Some clean up is needed on this article.

The section on Touched By An Angel has some grammatical problems. Perhaps someone whose first language is not English wrote it, which would explain some of the issues. Also, the Quotes section borders on Trivia, which is frowned upon in Wikipedia article. None of the Della Reese quotes have linked references, and some of them have the same grammatical errors as portions elsewhere in the article - which makes their validity somewhat questionable. I do want to make it clear I am sure the heart of the editor (or multiple editors) was in the right place. Other than a bit crufty, the article is pretty good. Until I get some feedback from others, I am hesitant to start messing with this - so does anyone have any input or want to begin working on this article. Just trying to make Wikipedia a better place! No Mention of Her Talk Show?

Della Reese was the first black woman to host a talk show, long before Oprah. --68.51.87.188 (talk) 23:24, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

please delete her photo from 2009

This photo is totally non-representative. it's a very an-aesthetic photo. i think it even borders in Dehumanization, it's an ugly deed to put such a photo of someone. please delete or replace it. 109.65.153.76 (talk) 03:02, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
