I don't understand the bit about a field more suitable for certain parts of the world. What exactly would make a magnetic signature "suitable" for anything? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.163.165.236 (talk) 10:28, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How long between deperms? Anyone knows? 93.172.88.114 (talk) 20:50, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Degaussing[edit]

Why is this a separate article from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Degaussing? --24.47.169.50 (talk) 06:18, 18 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It has been suggested at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ships that this article and Degaussing be reviewed for a possible split and/or merge. - theWOLFchild 01:55, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Merge They're the same thing. Andy Dingley (talk) 20:32, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I agree. The only reason I mentioned 'splitting' was if we wanted to separate the degaussing of ships from the degaussing of electronics, such as computer monitors. - theWOLFchild 22:33, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
That makes sense too, but it's a job for disambiguation such as degaussing (ships) and degaussing (CRT). "Degaussing" has clear primacy over deperming, even in the US Navy. Andy Dingley (talk) 22:46, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Works for me. - theWOLFchild 22:55, 15 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
