Inaugural Deputy Premier of Victoria[edit]

This page currently lists Albert Dunstan as the inaugural holder of the Deputy Premier office. However, I've been unable to find any sources to back this up - for example, having been looking through newspaper archives from 1932 I've not found any article to support this, with newspaper headlines of the day simply describing Dunstan as the deputy Country Party leader. On the other hand, I've found plenty on the party-room election of Robert Menzies as state UAP deputy leader and Deputy Premier, with [at least one] contemporary newspaper outright saying "Actually there is no such official post as Deputy Premier, but it has been generally recognised that there should be a senior Minister who would take the place of the Premier during his absence of duty through any cause". Going by all this, I think this page should be modified to remove Dunstan and to recognise Menzies as the inaugural Deputy Premier of Victoria. While I'm absolutely certain that Dunstan was *not* the inaugural Deputy Premier, I have found [evidence] that he did serve in the role for five days in March 1935, shortly before the collapse of the Argyle Ministry. --Thescrubbythug (talk) 13:08, 13 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
