promotional material and other clutter[edit]

Some lunatic by the name of SARDAR RIAZ ANWER KHAN QAISRANI or SHAH NAWAZ QAISRANI is going around adding his name as a prominent personality to all articles related to Dera Ghazi Khan and the irony is that he cant even spell! I've reverted the page back.

Performed a partial cleanup [[1]]. Please do not add unsourced or promotional material to the article. These things are against Wikipedia policies like WP:NOR,WP:RS, WP:NOT and bring a bad name to Wikipedia. If you have any objections to my edit, please discuss it here.-Civilizededucationtalk 16:01, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File:Ghazi Tractors.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion[edit]

An image used in this article, File:Ghazi Tractors.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

To take part in any discussion, or to review a more detailed deletion rationale please visit the relevant image page (File:Ghazi Tractors.jpg)

Cleanup[edit]

I cleaned up the article, corrected almost all of the grammar and spelling, removed various duplicate sections and unnecessary advertising, and rewrote sections of it. However, it still needs more citations, and certain parts of it are still written in an advertisement-like style (which is only a minor issue). -Branabus 22:37, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

D of Dera missing[edit]

In the Urdu script, the D of Dera Ghazi Khan is not shown although it is in the source text. This is a technical problem I cannot correct. Could someone do this? Thanks! Curryfranke (talk) 10:10, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup, January 2017[edit]

I've just cleaned up the grammar in § Location and corrected a geographical statement. The text formerly read

Dera Ghazi Khan is a mid-country city located on the junction of all the four provinces of Pakistan i.e. Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa. Due to its location, it has been once in the list of prospective capitals of Pakistan. It has beautiful and unique landscape including the Indus River, Green Fields, Pachad Desert and the Sulemaan Mountains.
Issues
  1. "The junction of all the four provinces of Pakistan" implies that there is a point where all four come together, so that point is on the borders of all the provinces, like the quadripoint in the Four Corners region of the southwestern United States. There is no such point. Dera Ghazi Khan is in Punjab, near the border of Balochistan, roughly south of the tripoint (three-way meeting point) of Punjab, Balochistan and the Federally Administrated Tribal Areas (Punjab borders Khyber Pukhtunkhwa a bit north of that), and roughly north of the tripoint of Punjab, Balochistan, and Singh.[1]
  2. Is "Green Fields" a place name, as the capitalization implies? Or does it just mean that there are beautiful green fields in or near Dera Ghazi Khan (in which case it should be lowercased)?
