Text and/or other creative content from this version of Alfred O. Deshong was copied or moved into Deshong Art Museum with this edit on 20:59, 28 July 2023. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists.

Did You Know Submission 2[edit]

Now that the article is eligible as a good article, I wanted to re-submit using the DYK template. I received an error message that the page already existed and posted on Wikipedia talk: Did You Know. I received the advice to manually create the Template:Did_you_know_nominations/Deshong_Art_Museum_2. I did this by creating a dummy submission for Deshong Park DYK here. I then copied that info and modified it for Deshong Art Museum. I need to know delete the Deshong Park dummy DYK. I apologize in advance if I have messed up anything. Deshong Art Museum in 1918

... that a teenage boy stole over $300,000 worth of paintings from the Deshong Art Museum (pictured) by simply taking them off the wall and sliding them out a window? Source: Between 1976 and 1979, a teenaged Laurence McCall from Chester, Pennsylvania, stole multiple paintings and a plate from the gallery (source)..... The museum had limited security and McCall stole more than 22 paintings by simply taking them off the wall and sliding them out of the museum's windows. (source).... McCall was eventually caught in September 1979, when he was 19. He was convicted of stealing $300,000 worth of art and served three years in federal prison. (source)

I'm not going to do an official review given my involvement with the first nomination. But I'll leave some general comments, and as a convenience for other people, here's a list of previous discussions:
Now, as for my drive-by, my objection to the first DYK was around WP:BLP, specifically the sub-standard sourcing for an underage person allegedly committing crimes. I've looked at the sourcing for the Art theft section of the current version in some detail; I'm convinced my previous concerns are no longer an issue. - Promoted to Good Article on 10/12/23, DYK check reports over 3,400 characters, well cited, neutral, earwig reports violation unlikely, 7.4%, QPQ done, hook interesting, length checked ok, image looks ok. The question is about the hook citation. The hook is found in the lede with no references, while the details in the body are fully cited. Also, page not found for the inquirer source. BTW, the NYT spells his name Lawrence. I think references should be added to the hook statement in the lede. Thanks, Zeete (talk) 14:45, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  - @Zeete: Thank you for the review. I've added the three references to the lead section to support the DYK hook although WP:LEAD does state "As a general rule of thumb, a lead section should contain no more than four well-composed paragraphs and be carefully sourced as appropriate, although it is common for citations to appear in the body and not the lead."
