There is a lot more to say about the DYC. My parents were members there in the 1960s when I was a child. The DYC was a segregated club well into the 1960s, and as it is in the middle of the largest park in the city of Detroit, which even then was predominately Black, this caused a great deal of anger in the city. This policy was changed at some point, I assume.

Interesting the other major club on the island, the Detroit Boat Club, slightly smaller but no less opulant, is esentially abandoned.

I'm not sure but I think the DYC may have suffered a near death experience as well?

Correct -- the club has some controversy linked to it, which would be appropriate to include, but only if properly documented. Meanwhile, the article draws a lot of wording directly from the DYC site, and the copyvio needs to be addressed. Contested deletion Category talk:Yachting races[edit]
