There is a lot more to say about the DYC. My parents were members there in the 1960s when I was a child. The DYC was a segregated club well into the 1960s, and as it is in the middle of the largest park in the city of Detroit, which even then was predominately Black, this caused a great deal of anger in the city. This policy was changed at some point, I assume.

Interesting the other major club on the island, the Detroit Boat Club, slightly smaller but no less opulant, is esentially abandoned.

It is still used by many people including rowing teams for high schools around Detroit.Bill Heller (talk) 01:43, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure but I think the DYC may have suffered a near death experience as well?

Correct -- the club has some controversy linked to it, which would be appropriate to include, but only if properly documented. Meanwhile, the article draws a lot of wording directly from the DYC site, and the copyvio needs to be addressed. Perhaps some current DYC member or enthusiast will do the honors of rewording so as not to be in violation? DavidOaks (talk) 19:40, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Addressed both matters -- but there's a rich history here, and it really would be good to see the article expanded. A "notable members" section would be welcome. DavidOaks (talk) 22:18, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Annual Events, and club facilites really should be expended. Also, a list of commodores needs to be added.Bill Heller (talk) 01:43, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You should know about this and comment. One of our editors has systematically depopulated it (from this article perhaps, and among many others), and thinks that is a good reason to delete it. 7&6=thirteen () 13:44, 26 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
